Edward Durr, a republican who defeated New Jersey’s democratic state senate president, had expressed support for QAnon and tweeted Islamophobic statements

 Ed Durr who became New Jersey state senator after defeating its longest serving state senate president, was known to harbor anti-Arab and anti-Muslim views. After his upset victory, Durr was reported to have made overtures and expressed regrets for his past anti-Muslim statements to the Arab and Muslim communities in New Jersey. While this is a welcomed development, it remains to be seen if Mr. Durr policies and voting record will reflect his departure from his Islamophobic views.
